The Stars are Right for someone...not you!
With Autumn and Halloween coming up the chill in the air brings ghouls and other unsavory types out of their lairs. And to that end I am running my college class and volunteer library games in a Bol/Sword & Sorcery Codex meets Cthulhu Mythos one off game veering from my the games I am running in each respectively and the result will be carrying on at another local library. More to come.
I am the one who writes for old school D&D, yet BoL and Everywhen are pretty cool too.

If half the npcs aren't running away screaming while the other half are frozen with shock - while the heroes are looking grim and standing firm, then I am afraid you're doing it wrong!

I am hoping to do it right, I have run CoC for quite some time, although evoking a sense of horror in most any game is not that difficult with the right approach. For this game I will be using a simple usage die system for resources as I will be counting torches and rations-I feel that sometimes you need that extra tension.

I generally find resource management to be a pain that adds little to the game, but I get your point about adding tension. If your system survives contact with the players, then please share - I'm sure we would all be interested.

If you are familiar with Carrion Lands, which lifts a lot from BoL, I am using that usage die system, as it is a seamless fit as is, and less brainwork for me to sort it out.
