I know the intent of the rules is that magic is largely an NPC activity, but my games are a little closer to D&D than pure sword & sorcery, and while I don't want to get into the excesses of high magic, I'd like for PC wizards to do a little more magic a lot more often than the standard rules.
First, does the community think this is possible without ruining the balance of the game?
Second, a fellow on IRC suggested one way to allow smaller magics to be more common while keeping big magics rare is to have separate Magic pools for each magnitude of spell-- cantrips would effectively be free, 1st magnitude would have a pool that refreshes in hours, 2nd magnitude would have a pool that refreshes in days, and 3rd magnitude would have a pool that only refreshes by doing crazy wizard things.
Is this too complicated? What other rules would it require?

I should note I am currently working from the Legendary rules, but I would like to upgrade to the Mythic rules when possible.
