The Azure Apes have undisputed control over the lush jungle of the North. Each troop is made up of an alpha male, numerous females, and younger males who haven't yet felt the need to challenge the alpha for control of the troop. Troops are communal by nature. They are quite hospitable to visitors, but be aware that the safety of the troop comes first. If you refuse to respect their hospitality, be prepared to face a 500 lb. ape's teeth and claws.

Although the troops are friendly, the jungle between their territories is haunted by apes who have been unable to overthrow the alpha of their troops and feed on anything or everyone who travels outside the shelter of a troop.

One of the deadliest predators of the Wastes, second only to the Great Worms. The only indication that it is approaching is a distinctive hissing sound and a single, dun-colored fin cutting through the shifting sands. When the Duneshark emerges from the sand to capture its food, it is both a spectacular and terrifying sight to behold. A mature Duneshark weighs well over four thousand pounds and measures fifteen feet from snout to caudal fin.

I appreciate the suggestions. I’ve picked up Carrion Lands, not bad. I've also started reading a comic series the Last God which has a pretty good back-story and would make a pretty good setting idea. They even put out a source book for the purpose of it being used as an rpg.

I've been craving a post apocalyptic/fantasy setting akin to Dark Sun.

I just started rereading the Thieves’ World books and forgot how good they were. Especially, the fact that they are written by different authors that she’d different light on the characters.

I do recommend if you get the chance to read the Black Company, fantastic series.

I’m looking to adapt one of two settings using the BoL rules, Thieves’ World or The Black Company. Which would you choose?

I'm wondering if there is any interest in getting a game started on Roll20?

I don't know how many Ralph Bakshi fans are out there, but I'm thinking of setting up a game set in the post-apocalyptic world of Wizards. I little gem from back in 1977.

The prologue that I'm writing is going to pick up a few hundred years after the fall of Blackwolf.

Since picking up BoL for the first time about 4 years ago it has been my go to rules when I wanted to run a game that was a little outside the conventional fare. I've done the traditional Lemuria setting, my own homebrewed Frazetta Death Dealer setting, now that I have got back to reading the Black Company; I think that would make a perfect setting for a BoL game.

Mind you like most books you have established storylines and what not, but there were other mercenary companies and other worlds. I’d most likely design one of the other worlds and use the Black Company’s model as far as the rest goes

I’ve been throwing around the idea for a Sword & Planet setting for a few months. Having read a number of the core series, John Carter, Esau Cairn, Sojan, Kane, etc., I’d like to get away from the displaced man kind of theme and I feel that without that it would just be a science fiction setting.

Thinking about it, I wondered if instead of just one man, a large group of humans are transported to an alien world. Maybe, a ship that was meant to colonize another world for some reason or another end up on a world they were not prepared for. Over the course of generations, cut off completely from Earth and failing technology are forced to adapt to their environment and the resources available.
