My character, Nymox the Red, has taken to calling himself that in StMichael's "I Remember Lemuria" campaign. To be fair, it started after he scaled an unscalable tower and managed some other prodigious feats of stealth and thievery.

However, in last night's session, the Greatest Thief South of the Axos sneaked into an ancient, secret library where a bunch of weird warriors were guarding a scholarly, sinister vizier (we haven't yet figured out whether he's a sorcerer) who was researching an ancient tome. He managed to climb up to a shadowed niche near the ceiling to do so.

Eventually, they went to grab a meal, with the scholar leaving his notes and the tome (along with several others he'd been looking at before Nymox got there) on the table. Nymox decided to sneak down and grab all the books and notes. StMichael asked for a roll to determine whether he did so without drawing attention.

I've got the Sneaky Boon, so I rolled three dice. All ONES!

Decided to take the Catastrophic Failure and suggested that I "pulled an Evie" (in reference to Rachel Wiesz's character in The Mummy). My rationale was that the bookshelf he was going to use to climb down was lightly loaded on the far side. So it tipped over, falling into the next shelf and that fell over and so on and so on.

Nymox was able to grab the notes and the last tome the vizier had been checking out before sprinting into the shadows on the far side of the room, heading for an exit. He beat feet successfully, so when the baddies (at least he thinks they are) came back, all they saw was a tremendous, inexplicable mess. However, the vizier is sure to discover that his notes and the book are gone. Since our group are the only other folks in the vicinity, I expected they'd be coming after us in a hurry. (Has not happened yet.)

Hoping our resident scholarly/sorcerous comrade will be able to figure out what they're up to from the little Nymox will be taking away.

Sometimes, spectacular failure is fun! (Though I doubt Nymox sees it that way.)
