New Dogs of W.A.R. Campaign, circa 1985

Started a Dogs of W.A.R. Campaign for my wife and I, I've had it on the back burner for some time and finally got around to starting it.  (Back around 2009 we played a d20 Modern campaign that we really enjoyed, so why not give it a go with the BoL Dogs of W.A.R. rules).

My wife's character is Viktoria "Viki" Jensen, a former U.S. Customs Enforcement Agent that was recruited by the Consortium to work for them, she has only been with the Consortium for 3 months.  Her background is Law Enforcement, and her careers/specializations are Sleuth 2, Cleaner 1, FAceman 2, Snoop 1.  Her weapon of choice is a Beretta 92SB Compact (13 round version).

My PC/NPC is Jack Danner, a former U.S. Army Special Forces Captain.  He has been with the Consortium for the past 2 years.  His background is Military, and his careers/specializations are Soldier 2, Sneak 2, Scout 1, Tech 1.  His weapon of choice is a Browning Hi-Power.

The two are based out of Gainsville, VA.  Their covers are that they work for Knight's Shield Corp, a security firm that has business dealing worldwide.  Viki is the Senior Accounts Manager and Jack is a Lead Field Technician.

We will be playing some short 1.5 - 2.0 (+/-) hour long one-shots, they are going to be "episodic" in nature.  (Kind of like the old 1970s & 80s tv shows).  The first mission was last Saturday, set in October 1985.  They had to blow up a Bio-Tech Lab outside of Mexico City and if possible, eliminate the Cuban Doctor who was in charge of the lab.

They got in, posing as a cleaning crew - Viki made a great Diplomacy task roll vs the gate guard, he even asked if she would like to meet him for drinks later on...  Then Jack set up the explosives while Viki provided overwatch, some security guards interrupted them, this led to a gunfight!  After taking out the three guards, the Dr. and his bodyguard arrived - the bodyguard engaged the PCs while the Dr. tried to flee.  Viki chased the Dr., taking a "flesh wound" from a shot to her arm by the bodyguard!  Jack finished off the bodyguard.  Viki caught up to the Dr. and eliminated him, then the gate guard engaged her, but she dropped him.  The two were able to flee in the cleaning van, a minute before the lab exploded!

Like other campaigns that we have played using BoL, this one ran really nice.  The Dogs of W.A.R. sub-set really catches the action movie flavor!  Both of us enjoyed it a lot!

Next week, we travel to Argentina and board a train to try to stop a bio-weapons sale.

Love it! And it's nice to run a 'modern' game without having to worry about smartphones and the internet. Please keep us informed on how the Argentina mission went.

My real name is Steve Hall

I haven't run or played a game of Dogs of W*A*R for ages. This makes me want to. Keep us posted!
