My first game as a player!

I've always run BoL - never played it as a player. Possibly because I designed the game my players are shy of running it - although mostly only two of us GM anyway.

My current group each has a copy of the rules. I told them that means there's no excuse for one of them not to run it. I told them I hadn't read the adventures (except the one I wrote). A little white lie, as I did read them well before the book went to Kickstarter, so I don't recall a lot about them.

Last night, I actually got to play it. I decided to play a Kalukan (as that way, if I do remember the adventures, I can't say!). I got the PC magician to name him/it/her...and the player chose "Cyclops". I couldn't object, obviously! We decided he was her bodyguard, having escaped the clutches of the Witch Queen (who is now hunting him down).

The player running the game doesn't GM much, so I tried to avoid interjections. Mostly, we did character creation and the "getting to know each other" bit, so he didn't have to do very much. But it went pretty well, so far. Looking forward to getting more fully into the adventure next week.

Re: My first game as a player!

It's a good start and it must be magic getting to be a player in the game that you wrote. Here's to many more sessions!

I am the one who writes https://ancientvaults.wordpress.com/ for old school D&D, yet BoL and Everywhen are pretty cool too.

Re: My first game as a player!

Congrats on finally getting to play!  Hopefully my journey to full player status won't take as long.     Out of curiosity, which version/edition did you end up using?

Re: My first game as a player!

Challenging them right off the bat with a non-verbal character. Awesome stuff!
