I think my main surprise is that Ludospherik didn't continue with the DriveThru POD model that they used for the first English translation, Lemurian Chronicles. That book was excellent. DriveThru POD would also make shipping costs less of an issue. The shipping costs to Canada for this KS are crazy, but I regularly use DriveThru which has more acceptable costs. Finally, the quality of the POD is so much better these days; it really does seem like a good option for smaller game companies.

They wanted a book in retail stores. The quality of the softcover far exceeds the quality of POD offering via Drivethru. I wish I could show it off to you. There's nothing Ludospherik can do about the costs of postage - they certainly don't want to lose money! Lets hope you can pick it up through normal distribution later. I wouldn't want you to miss out on a gorgeous book.

Honestly, I'd buy the softcover book if it wasn't for the excessively high shipping costs to Canada. That is mainly an issue with using Studio 2 Publishing as the distributor. They have always overcharged on everything, but their shipping fees are exorbitant, mainly because they restrict the shipping options. I have still backed the PDF and I will wait in the hope that a FLGS can sell the book directly in Canada.

I guess not?   In my case, I didn't want to say anything during the campaign but will be waiting until I can order it at the store and buy it on drivethru rpg as I prefer to keep my pdfs in one spot (admittedly a risk if drivethru folds!).    If there was a hardcover version at a reasonable price with shipping to the US then I probably wouldn't have been able to resist.
