Hello. Though I played a couple BoL one-shots years ago, I only just recently started delving into it. It really appeals to me for a variety of reasons, so I've been hunting for places to learn more about the game.
I'm an on-again, off-again gamer (mostly off, last several years) who usually ends up in the GM's seat. Mostly I've played D&D across it's various incarnations, but have dabbled a fair bit in ultralite systems and more narrative games too. BoL (and Everywhen) have caught my eye because the system seems really well streamlined to the pulpy S&S really nicely.
Hopefully no one will mind if I post an occasional newbie question. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, while not a super active forum, there are some big BoL afficionados on here. So ask away, hopefully we can help.
BoL = GREAT GAME!

I'm a BoL newbie myself, and only recently joined the forum. It'll be nice not being the only one asking newbie questions!
Welcome!

First, welcome, newblood! You have come to the right place! CoL has recently picked up again, and there’s a wealth of old discussion to exhume. BoL’s creator posts here often. MeWe has another somewhat active group, as well as some hidden discord servers.
Your particular tastes in games runs parallel to my own, and BoL is an excellent example of one on the lighter spectrum that is a joy to run and play. In particular, it suits casual play well, both in terms of irregular player gatherings and frequency, and supporting “one-shot” style/short-story format. I find for those circumstances, BoL allows one to get through a significant chunk of gaming in a short session of 2-3 hours and still wrap up a short scenario. It just gets out of the way so nicely.

Welcome sword brother!
Don't ignore some of the older posts here, but check them all out. You will find much treasure here, as well as lots of moaning and muttering.

Thanks, all!
Looking forward to chatting with the locals and perusing the dusty archives for mysterious secrets, ineffable and otherwise.

Welcome aboard. It's always nice to see new recruits joining the forums. As has been mentioned, please have a good look through the forums; there as some great threads with lots of good info. Also, never be worried about asking questions - even if they've been asked before everyone here is super friendly and happy to answer and chat with each other. We all love BoL and that common bond has kept these forums alive even when others have gone by the wayside.
