Fjarrstrand Sagaa

Curious if anyone has had any experience with Chris Perkin’s Fjarrstrand Sagas fanmade post-Ragnarok Norse hack for Barbarians of Lemuria. It’s very stylish and well put together on first glance. I may run a game using it, but haven’t yet had time to dig in.

I’m just surprised that such a lavishly produced time hasn’t gotten any chatter that I have seen. Has anyone used it? To what effect? Anything lacking? Sticking points? Particularly good bits?

Re: Fjarrstrand Sagaa

Upon further review, it’s very well done and researched. I can see why this may not be everyone’s cuppa. One variety of Viking type or another doesn’t really differentiate characters as much. Most will be skalds, sailors, and warriors. On the other hand, it’s a good premise for playing all similar characters in a way that wouldn’t work with an all-barbarian party.

Re: Fjarrstrand Sagaa

I never even knew about this BoL hack - just downloaded it and quickly perused the document. I'm very impressed with this and I think I might use it to do a 13th Warrior adventure. The character sheet at the back of the book is rather basic and really needs some design work to help reflect the setting. Other than that a very impressive hack.

13th Warrior was one of inspirations for a pbp I’m now running.

Re: Fjarrstrand Sagaa

13th Warrior is definitely the way to go.

Switching the system over to Everywhen and using Specialisms instead of Careers might be one way of dealing with the similarity of characters.

Re: Fjarrstrand Sagaa

It does seem that mixing specialisations with careers is becoming the best method of creating more diverse and individual characters in BoL.

Re: specializations I posted a thread a while back with some options I use. Here's the link for those that haven't read it before...
