Weird lands and forgotten islands » Pulpy "Flash Gordon" hacks in the Solar system? » 4/04/2022 3:34 am

Are there any hacks to a Flash Gordon-similar setting? Pulpy raygun action. Preferably set in the Solar system: like Rocket Age and Tales of the Solar Patrol.

It seems that there should be something done already?

I am aware of Barbarians of the Void, but want a more specific 30ies serial era setting.

Dicey Tales, Dogs of War, Honor + Intrigue, etc to be discussed here » Carpathia Update » 1/26/2016 2:17 pm

Please consider contacting Martin McKenna for images! His earlier works might be cheaper, and Hammer was a clear inspiration. Just google name plus images and you will see he is right for this project.

Best wishes for the New Year, guys. Bit slow in the cold, so here is an old hack of Shadowrun I found. It is not "complete", lacking magic rules, rigging etc, but hopefully playable or adjustable enough. We ended up taking it for a spin thoughout a few adventures with hopes of fixing the rest of the rules, but in the end we just went going for "Rigger 2" instead of more (simplified) details about drones etc, and the same for magic. It become maybe a bit to detailed for cyber etc.

No time or plans to revisit it at the moment.

Hope u like it, chummers!

Hi The Git,

Sure, it was done as an iBook as an experiment of sorts, with maps of the Solar System, the star range chart etc for easy player reference during play, and to have the sci-fi images used as illustrations really "pop".

Here is an attempt at a hack of BotV-rules with the setting from the Expanse (Leviathan Wakes). Setting + rules are done for an iBook. Open the link in your email on an iPad or iPhone, choose "open in iBook" and voila.

Called it The Void to not alert players about the Expanse/LW-plot used in the scenario. Good fun. No ship rules yet, however, so refer to BotV for anything missing.

What say ye?

Not so good that the Kickstarter-exclusive hard back version of the rules I put my money into seems to disappear...

Been following this thread for quite a while. Love the BotV, and am currently trying to convert (plunder) it to The Expanse setting (James Corey´s Leviathan Wakes etc), for a one-off I plan to run. If I end up with something useful, I will post it.

Also looking into a Star Wars conversion (I know there are some attempts out there already, but they seem a little fiddly and divert from the original BOL rules IMO).
