Missing the Brawl combat ability

I kind of liked the Brawl combat ability from Legendary edition that was removed in Mythic.  In Mythic you brawl using your Melee combat ability.  I have never liked it that just because you are good with melee weapons also makes you good with your fists.  I think they should be separate and distinct like they were in previous editions.

Have any of you added Brawl back in for your Mythic edition games? If so, did you go with just giving your players 1 additional point to put in combat abilities during character creation, going from 4 pts to 5 pts to put into combat abilities?

Re: Missing the Brawl combat ability

I know you posted this a long time ago but I agree with you.  I liked the brawl ability.  It allowed a character to be a highly skilled brawler, very skilled with his or her fists without necessarily being skilled with weapons.

I still feel this way.  I think even though I am using Mythic edition I will continue to use the Brawl ability and give each player an extra 2 pts they can put into Melee, Brawl, Ranged, Defense to account for it.

I also think I still like the way that Legendary edition handles initiative better than Mythic edition.

Me too.  I tend to stick with Legendary abilities.

Re: Missing the Brawl combat ability

Way back in 2015 I posted this thread about Career & Combat Specializations ... https://championsoflemuria.boardhost.com/viewtopic.php?id=189
The idea was to create more granular options, hence more variety for character design, while not actually breaking the RAW. I'm not saying the house rules are perfect, but I do believe they still hold up pretty well, and they may satisfy your desire for a pugilist specialist without having to make significant changes.

Wealth can be wonderful, but you know, success can test one's mettle as surely as the strongest adversary.
