Yeah, I've seen those t-shirts and they're pretty good. What I would really like to see is a shirt using the runes in the BoL Mythic rulebook above and below the BoL logo. The links below show images of what I am talking about.

It has to be said that the French really do know how to support a game. I am so excited about the French BoL product line get full English translations!

@SimonW Personally, I would say you could do away with the Initiative stat and replace that with the Mental Defense. I think you could easily go back to the old way of doing initiative as it was back in Legendary BoL, particularly for a supers style game.

I need to give the draft rules a real close read this week. Things have been hectic at work lately and I really haven't done much gaming lately. I'll PM you today for an updated copy of the draft rules if that is OK with you.

One the reasons I like B0L so much is I actually find it easier to manage larger groups of PCs. I ran BoL on Roll20 for a few months during COVID and had at least six player for each session. I found BoL to be a great system for handling the larger group and still keep the game moving at a fast pace. I guess everyones experience is different, which is why so many game systems exist.

@AndyB Welcome to the forums. Regarding the Blood Sundown adventure for EveryWhen, are there any mechanics for duels? This is always what I look at first for western inspired games, and I am interested to know if Blood Sundown dealt with this at all.

My understanding has always been that 1 AP bought you 10 LB worth of rabble, rather than 10 rabble with 1 LB, necessarily. So you could get 5 with 2 LB, or 3 with 3 LB instead.

When you say this is your understanding, are you saying this is how you interpreted the rules as written in the book, or is this a houserule you came up with? I only ask because the BoL Mythic rules on pg 157 specifically state "You can use 1 AP to attract 10 rabble followers (each with 1 lifeblood)."

I understand better where your question is coming from now, and it is a good question.

From my own perspective, I would certainly say that books such as Everywhen, S&S, H+I etc etc have added extra "complexity", but I put that word in quotations for a reason; each of the rulesets are really offering toolboxes and options, which allows GMs to create a playing environment suited to their players needs. As you mentioned in your original post, the core mechanics are essentially still the same, and that means BoL is still as simple as it was in the early days.

@Pit Fighter
Please don't take this the wrong way, and I fully realise your question was directed to Simon, but I am interested to know if you think Mythic BoL is significantly different and/or more complex than Legendary BoL?

FWIW, I feel that the rules are very much the same, with some additional optional rules (such as mass warfare, ship combat) that can add more detail to a game, but can just as easily be ignored for a more narrative-based solution. The only thing I found a little more difficult to get used to is the new Initiative mechanic but, once I used it with my game group, I found it added significant choice for group tactics and dynamics.

One thing I like about all iterations of BoL is the ease with which you can use different components from different versions. Honor + Intrigue, for example, keeps Brawl as a separate combat stat rather than adding Initiative as a stat as this works much better for the swashbuckling rules the game adds.
